What is SkinPen Microneedling?
SkinPen Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine, sterile needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin. This stimulates the skin's natural repair process and supports new collagen and elastin production, helping to improve the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores and uneven skin texture.

What to expect
Please allow around 60 minutes for your SkinPen appointment. This gives us time for a thorough consultation, to review your skin, medical history and any contraindications, prepare the skin and allow your numbing cream time to take effect. The SkinPen treatment itself usually takes around 30–40 minutes. Afterwards, your skin may look pink or red and can feel warm, tight or slightly dry, rather like mild sunburn. This normally settles over the following few days, and you’ll be given clear aftercare advice to support your skin as it recovers.
Before your appointment
To help ensure your skin is calm and ready for treatment, please stop using retinoids, exfoliating acids and other potentially irritating active skincare for at least 3 days before your appointment. Avoid waxing, depilatory creams and other treatments that may sensitise the skin in the days beforehand. If you are unsure whether a product or treatment is suitable to continue, please contact Radiance before your appointment.
Results and treatment course
SkinPen works by stimulating your skin’s natural collagen and elastin production, so results develop gradually rather than overnight. You may begin to notice improvements in skin texture and overall quality in the weeks following treatment, with further changes continuing as the skin remodels. For more significant concerns such as acne scarring, enlarged pores or uneven texture, a course of treatments is usually recommended. Your treatment plan will be tailored to your skin and your individual goals, with enough time between appointments for the skin to recover fully.
After your treatment
After your SkinPen treatment, your skin may feel warm, tight or slightly sensitive and can appear pink or red for the first few days. For the first 24 hours, avoid applying skincare products or makeup unless specifically advised, and gently rinse with cool water if needed. Avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise or excessive sweating for 72 hours, and avoid retinoids, vitamin C, exfoliating acids and other active skincare for one week. You’ll be given clear aftercare instructions following your appointment so you know exactly how to care for your skin while it recovers.
